I am a genre-blending artist whose music is shaped by a life lived at the crossroads of cultures, rhythms, and identities. Born in the South Bronx and raised in Texas, my artistry reflects my unique journey through two distinct musical worlds: the urban pulse of New York City and the country soul of Texas. This duality has given my work a rare versatility, allowing me to fluidly merge genres like pop, country, hip-hop, salsa, rock, jazz, gospel, and classical music.
Musical Philosophy and Influences
My creative process begins with rhythm. As a percussionist with roots in marching band, I prioritize cadence and flow in my compositions. My ability to hear rhythm in diverse styles allows me to reimagine genres by layering beats and percussion elements. Taylor Swift’s Red album is a key influence with its emotional depth and genre diversity. To me, the Red Album represents a middle ground where country transitions into pop while retaining elements of R&B and hip-hop cadence—a style I find naturally compatible with my rap flow. This connection to rhythm and emotion is central to my ability to cross genres seamlessly.
Growing up in Texas exposed me to country music, which I embraced alongside my love for hip-hop legends like Whodini, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, and the Beastie Boys. Returning to New York with this eclectic background gave me an edge in identifying with salsa, disco, and other urban sounds. My influences also extend to iconic performers like Michael Jackson, Prince, Elton John, and Madonna, whose mastery of image and performance inspired my own approach to music as a complete art form.
Fashion and Identity
My artistry is as much about visual storytelling as it is about sound. Starting my career as a Ford model before transitioning into acting and music, I learned the importance of fashion and image in creating a memorable presence. Inspired by artists like Freddie Mercury and Willie Nelson—each with their distinct style—I incorporate bold colors and themes into my work. My bright aesthetic reflects my support for inclusivity and individuality, often drawing from my love for the LGBTQ+ community.
Staying True to Himself
My philosophy is rooted in authenticity: “If you stay true to yourself, you can always stay true to your art.” Growing up wearing cowboy boots in Texas but dancing to hip-hop beats in the Bronx NYC taught me the value of embracing differences. This ethos has carried me through decades of creativity.
Legacy and Vision
I continue to push boundaries while staying true to my roots. Whether it’s salsa on Taco Tuesdays, country on Country Love and South Grand Prairie Kid, or reinterpreting Taylor Swift’s Red, I prove that rhythm transcends boundaries and I transcend boundaries through my journey.
